Kuala Lumpur: CIMB Group (“CIMB” or “the Group”) today announced the launch of CIMB Alumni (“the Alumni”), a purpose driven platform designed to reconnect and mobilise one of the region’s most influential leadership networks to drive meaningful societal impact.

Through the Alumni, past and present members of the CIMB community will be able to stay connected, exchange perspectives and create opportunities for mentorship, philanthropy, volunteerism, knowledge sharing and strategic collaboration. The platform also provides a channel for members to contribute their experience and networks in support of CIMB’s wider community and long-term growth.

Tan Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman of CIMB Alumni, said, “CIMB Alumni is formed in recognition of the individuals who have shaped CIMB’s journey and continue to be part of its story. From our beginnings as a merchant bank to the leading ASEAN financial institution today, this network reflects a shared legacy that extends beyond tenure.”

“The Alumni serves as a bridge between what we have built and what lies ahead. Our connection with CIMB should not end when we leave. It is a platform to remain engaged, support one another, and contribute meaningfully both to the organisation and to the wider communities we serve. By bringing this network together with intent, we are creating a community that continues to shape outcomes beyond the institution.”

Novan Amirudin, Group Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Group, said, “CIMB is an exceptional institution because of the foundation built by the people who came before us. More than two decades on, from the transformational mergers that brought us together, CIMB has grown into a unique ASEAN institution. That growth did not happen by chance. It was built over many years by people with conviction, discipline and belief in what CIMB could become.”

“What makes CIMB special is not only the scale of the franchise, but the culture behind it — a diverse ASEAN mindset, trusted-advisor culture and the willingness to stay forward-looking and curious. These qualities continue to guide how we serve our customers, support communities and evolve as a financial institution.”

“CIMB Alumni will serve as a platform for networking, mentorship, knowledge exchange and collaboration, enabling members to remain engaged with the Group and with one another beyond their time at CIMB. The platform will also support leadership development by connecting experienced alumni with current talent across the Group,” he added.

Even prior to its formal establishment, members of the Alumni community had come together to support humanitarian efforts locally and regionally, including pandemic and flood relief efforts as well as international aid. Through the Alumni, this spirit of service can be further strengthened with greater structure and reach, in advancing communities through meaningful collaboration, shared purpose and collective action.

As it grows, the Alumni is positioned to become a distinct community built on shared pride, experience and values. The platform will provide members with new ways to stay connected, support one another and come together in service of the wider community.
